scott-stallings-golfToday we’re featuring a devotional thought from our PGA Tour Partner, Scott Stallings (presented at the FedEx St. Jude Classic 2015). This first appeared on the Player’s Devotional Web site.

Scripture: Micah 6:8 (ESV)

He has told you, O man, what is good;
    and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
    and to walk humbly with your God?

Scripture Reading: He’s already made it plain how to live, what to do, what God is looking for in men and women. It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love, and don’t take yourself too seriously—take God seriously.

Thought: My pastor came to me after a service and suggested I think about this verse throughout the year. The idea was simple—to have a verse to live by on and off the course. The end of the verse is my favorite part. The moment we step in front of God and his plans for us, that’s the moment our own agenda has become too important.

Reflection 1: How can you make sure you’re taking God’s will more seriously than your own?

Reflection 2: How can you demonstrate compassion and loyalty to someone today?

Prayer: Lord, help me to walk in faith each day, trusting in your will for my life. My thoughts, agenda, goals…may they all fall in place behind you. Thank you for the beautiful life you have given me.
